Teams of brick masons and tenders can compete for a spot in the 2019 Spec Mix Bricklayer 500 competition at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 8 at Ben Ketchie Park in Gold Hill.
Masonry students will compete in bricklaying at 10 a.m.
The world champion competition will be in Las Vegas. Masons and tenders will compete for more than $125,000 in cash and prizes, including a 2019 Ford F-250.
Last year, the McGee Brothers of Monroe won first place and were named the Spec Mix Top Craftsman in the regional competition, earning $400.
Jerry Goodman Masonry of Ridgeway received second place and $250. Kelly Masonry of Pendalton received third place and $150.

Women in Business rescheduled for Thursday
The Rowan County Chamber of Commerce Women in Business has rescheduled its Ladies Night Out for Thursday
Novant Health and Greystone Salon & Spa will host the Breast Cancer Awareness Month program from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Tavern.
“Bras for a Cause” will be on display, with patrons voting on prizes to be given.
Greystone Salon & Spa will provide chair massages, mini-manicures, eyebrow waxing and mini-makeovers.
There will also be door prizes.

Industrial Supply Solutions announces new vice president of operations
Ed Willenbrink is the new vice president of operations at Industrial Supply Solutions.
Willenbrink joined the company in January 1999 at the Wilmington, Ohio, branch.
Industrial Supply Solutions is a wholesale industrial distributor with operations in 14 states and in Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas.
Tractor Supply to be closed Thanksgiving Day
Tractor Supply stores will be closed Nov. 22 in observance of Thanksgiving.
The stores will reopen at 6 a.m. Nov. 23.
“Tractor Supply stores will continue its tradition of being closed on Thanksgiving so our team members can spend the holiday with loved ones or however they choose,” said John Ordus, senior vice president of store operations at Tractor Supply. “Our team members will be ready to provide an excellent shopping experience throughout the holiday season.”
The largest rural lifestyle retailer operates more than 1,725 stores nationwide with more than 28,000 employees.
