Karen Shearer Dunn to speak on Intergenerational Workforce at Rowan Chamber Breakfast

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Karen Shearer Dunn will speak on the “Intergenerational Workforce” at the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce Power in Partnership (PIP) breakfast on Thurs., Oct. 18, 7:30 a.m. at Trinity Oaks (728 Klumac Road) in Salisbury.

Dunn holds a M.A. degree in Organizational Communication from The Ohio State University and recently started her third year on the faculty of Wingate University where she teaches Organizational and Relational Communication.

She previously taught at Queens University of Charlotte for over 20 years where she was a two-time recipient of the Fuqua Distinguished Educator Award and the Outstanding Professor Award. She has worked as a senior account executive at some of the world’s largest advertising agencies, specifically Leo Burnett & Co. on the McDonalds account, and as an instructional designer/trainer for Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago.

While university teaching, she started Karen Dunn Talent Development and over the years has done consulting, training and speaking in gender, intercultural nonverbal and cross-generational communication for many organizations including: IBM, Wachovia, Coca-Cola, Motorola, TIAA-Cref, LPL Financial, the U.S. Postal Service, the State of North Carolina, Philip Morris and many others. She is a contributing author of the book, Sex, Gender and Jobs.

The Chamber’s popular Power Card will once again be offered for those who would like to take advantage of the PIP frequent attender program.

Power Card holders receive a discounted price for the series and do not have to make a reservation each month. The cost is $95 for members; $225 for non-members.

If you are not a Power Card holder, individual reservations are welcome; however, the reservation deadline is Tues., Oct. 16 by 5 p.m.

The cost is $15 for members and $25 for non-members. The price includes the cost of breakfast and the program.
